Elda Fisher, MD, DMD, FACS
Dr. Fisher is a an associate professor and director of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She specializes in facial aesthetic surgery and gender affirmation surgery. Dr. Fisher attended medical school at the University of North Carolina where she also completed her surgical residency program. Following residency training, she completed a fellowship in full-body and facial aesthetic surgery in Columbus, Ohio. Dr. Fisher is board-certified though ABOMS in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and through the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery in General Cosmetic Surgery. She is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and has lectured nationally and internationally on facial aesthetic surgery and corrective maxillofacial surgery. As a fellow of AAOMS she serves as the secretary for the special interest group in cosmetic surgery and is also actively involved in the women in surgery clinical interest group. She is an active member of several professional organizations including ACOMS, Association of Women Surgeons, and the World Professional Organization for Transgender Health. In addition to her surgical interests, Dr. Fisher is committed to a resident education. She recently co-led the new endeavor of the Collaborative OMFS Virtual Inter-Institutional Didactic (COVID) Program, facilitating high-quality didactic education to residents in over 55 national and international Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Programs. She has a particular interest in facial gender affirmation procedures including facial feminization and masculinization surgery, and the use of injectable medicine as a compliment to facial gender affirmation
