Dr. Eisenberg grew up in Memphis, TN, and attended Briarcrest Christian School and then Samford University in Birmingham, AL, graduating magna cum laude with a B.S. in 1999. In 2003, she received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry with honors under a four-year U.S. Navy Health Professionals Scholarship. After dental school, she completed a four-year residency in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at Yale-New Haven Hospital-Saint Raphael Campus.
In July 2016, Dr. Eisenberg completed nine years of service as a Commander in the United States Navy, where she gained experience in a wide variety of roles in hospitals and clinics around the world. Her time included work as an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon at Naval Hospital Portsmouth and Navy Dental Clinic Norfolk, Virginia from July 2007 to July 2009. She then served as the Assistant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Program Director for a time during her three years at Naval Medical Center in San Diego, CA.
In July 2012, Dr. Eisenberg moved to Okinawa, Japan where she took on the role of Dental Department Head and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon at Naval Hospital Okinawa. In her last tour, she served at Branch Health Clinic, Washington Navy Yard as the Dental Department Head and then Officer in Charge. During her time in the service, she also volunteered for multiple temporary assignments, serving aboard the USS George Washington (CVN 73), at Naval Hospital, Naples, Italy, and at Guantanamo Bay Naval Base when Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons were requested.
Her personal military awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (two awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards), Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the Navy and Marine Corps Overseas Service Ribbon.
Dr. Eisenberg is Board Certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology. She is also a member of several professional organizations, including the American Dental Association, American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, American Dental Society of Anesthesiology, Tennessee Dental Association, and Tennessee Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.
Dr. Eisenberg opened her own practice, Knoxville Center for Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery in January 2019. She practices the full scope of Oral Surgery with a focus on minimally invasive cosmetic procedures. She has privileges and covers trauma and oral surgery call at East Tennessee Children’s Hospital and University of Tennessee Medical Center and enjoys working with the Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Residency there as well as giving lectures.
She has become a strong advocate and mentor for other women in surgery. On February 13, 2020, she gave the lecture “Breaking Down Barriers in Healthcare, The Need for More Women in Surgical Specialties” at the TEDxUTK: Opening the Door event. She provided a chapter in “Behind her Scalpel. A Practical Guide to Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery with Stories of Female Surgeons.” Dr. Eisenberg also presented at the 2021 AAOMS Dental Implant Conference and will be providing a virtual lecture for the Aesthetic Domain of the ACOMS Anywhere Series on “Incorporating RF Microneedling into your practice” in January 2022. She is also giving a talk on “Tokenism in OMS” on March 12, 2022 for the Women in OMS Symposium.
When Dr. Eisenberg isn’t performing oral and cosmetic surgery in Knoxville, her interests include running, traveling, and outdoor activities. She is an avid runner with Knoxville Endurance and has qualified and run the Boston Marathon for the past three years.
Her husband, Mitch, is a United States Naval Academy Graduate and an attorney with the Office of the District Attorney General of Knox County.
Mitch and Nicole have boy and girl twins that keep them busy with numerous activities. They moved to Knoxville in the summer of 2016 and quickly immersed themselves in the community.
