Rania A Habib, MD DDS
Dr. Habib attended the University of Minnesota for both undergraduate and dental school where she graduated with honors. She completed her medical degree from University of Maryland. She finished her general surgery internship and Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery residency at the University of Maryland Medical Center and RA Cowley Shock Trauma Center in 2015. Upon graduation, she joined a busy group private practice in OMFS in Annapolis/Crofton, Maryland where she worked for 2 years. Always seeking personal and professional growth, Dr. Habib decided to pursue her passion of treating pediatric patients with cleft and craniofacial disorders. She completed a full scope Pediatric Craniofacial Surgery Fellowship at University of Florida, Jacksonville with Dr. Barry Steinberg. She became the first female attending surgeon in the Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS) at LSU, NOLA where she was appointed an Assistant Professor with a primary focus in Pediatric Cleft and CranioMaxillofacial Surgery where she served on Our Lady of the Lake Cleft and Craniofacial multidisciplinary team and played a prominent role in educating surgical residents. She then joined the University of Pennsylvania faculty as an Assistant Professor for 2.5 years. She opened her own LLC and works as an independent contractor, where she hopes to continue to advance the field of Facial Reconstruction, Facial Trauma and Cleft & Craniofacial Surgery.
She is board certified and her main surgical interests include pediatric/adult OMFS, cleft, craniofacial, craniosynostosis, distraction osteogenesis, orthognathic, facial trauma, obstructive sleep apnea, benign head and neck pathology, non-surgical facial rejuvenation and facial reconstructive surgery. She volunteered with Smiles International and the Global Smile Foundation where she provided cleft and craniofacial surgical care internationally and is planning to resume her international work this year. She uses her social media platform to educate the public about OMFS and encourage more women and minorities to consider a career in OMFS. She dedicates time for mentoring and mentors 10-12 students yearly that are dedicated to pursuing OMFS with a high success rate for matching her students into programs across the country.
In her spare time, Dr. Habib enjoys traveling, rock climbing, biking, cooking, attending live music/art events, volunteering, reading and spending time with her family and friends. She is a master level SCUBA diver who is also a fitness fanatic.
