Vivian Chau, DMD
Dr. Vivian Chau is a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon and a native to the Lower Mainland.
Dr. Chau earned her Bachelor of Science from the University of British Columbia, followed by her Doctorate of Dental Medicine from Boston University. She graduated Summa Cum Laude, was awarded the Merit Scholarship, and was inducted into the prestigious Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society in recognition of her academic and clinical excellence. She subsequently completed her surgical residency at the University of Minnesota.
Dr. Chau is on staff at Surrey Memorial Hospital through Fraser Health, and is also a Clinical Assistant Professor in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of British Columbia, where she enjoys mentoring and teaching students and residents. Her practice focuses on the full scope of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery including wisdom teeth extractions, implant rehabilitation, hard and soft tissue grafting, orthodontic-related surgery, oral pathology, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) surgery, corrective jaw (orthognathic) surgery, facial trauma reconstruction, IV sedation and general anesthesia.

I am an active member of several professional organizations, including the British Columbia Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons (2026–present), the British Columbia Dental Association (2025–present), the Canadian Dental Association (2025–present), the Canadian Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons (2023–present), the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (2021–present), and the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (2021–present). My honors and awards include the International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Foundation Scholarship (2023), membership in the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society (2021), a Summa Cum Laude Doctorate of Dental Medicine (2021), the Boston University Women’s Council Scholarship (2019), the Boston University Dean’s Honour Roll (2017–2021), the Boston University School of Dental Medicine Merit Scholarship (2017–2018), and an NSERC Undergraduate Research Award (2016). I have also contributed to my professional community as a Panelist at Careers Night for the UBC Microbiology and Immunology Society (2026).
